Hands-off with ASUS’ Dual Panel Touchscreen PC

ASUS showed off a bunch of concept PCs at CES a few months back and is continuing the trend out at Germany’s CeBit this week.  Reminding us of the OLPC XO 2.0 and V12’s Canova concepts, ASUS is previewing an all-touch based “Community Designed PC” called the dual panel concept notebook.

Originating on ASUS and Intel’s WePC.com, the notebook is the result of the ideas contributed from users on the Web portal. The all-touch notebook is a “work in progress” according to ASUS, but aims to support hand gestures, pen, and multi-touch inputs.

ASUS forsees the laptop functioning as a regular notebook with a resizeable virtual keyboard and touchpad, a multimedia hub, where both display panels form a larger display for watching a movie, or an e-book where one could hold the dual panel concept notebook just like they would a  book.

Of course, the concept is still very much in development so  don’t expect to see something like this come to market in the next year.
